welcome
Hi, I’m Shannon! Just yesterday, I graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Neuroscience and Economics — and wrapped up four incredible years playing collegiate ice hockey. I’ve always been fascinated by health, wellness, and the science that drives our bodies, but this past year I dove deep into a topic that’s often overlooked: the female body.
What I discovered? The current systems in healthcare and fitness weren’t built with women in mind. From research gaps to one-size-fits-all training plans, female physiology — especially the menstrual cycle — is too often ignored. That needs to change.
So, I’m doing something about it. I’m launching Cycle-Aligned Training to help women understand and work with their bodies, not against them. Each phase of the menstrual cycle affects how we should train, fuel, and recover — and it’s time we start listening to that science.
As my first experiment, I’m training for a half marathon this September — and I’ll be aligning my training, nutrition, and recovery with my cycle every step of the way. I’ll be documenting the entire process right here and on social media @cyclealignedtraining.
Whether you're an athlete, a science nerd, or just curious about how to feel your best all month long — welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
Let’s redefine how to train like a girl, together.
